Question:
I'm taking my driving test next week and I've had people tell me what it will be like. They said the instructor asks you to park and show what you would do if parking uphill by a curb. I know you have to put the parking brake on and everything, but what do you do by a curb? Is there a certain direction you have to turn the wheel?

when parking facing downhill, turn the wheel as far to the right as you can. once again, this is to ensure that if the car comes out of gear, the car will slide to a stop and be wedged against the curb.

when parking up hill by a curb, turn the wheels as if to be driving out of the space. if the brake fails the tires will run into the curb, stopping the car in place, when parking down hill, turn the wheels as if to drive into the curb, same resultyes. Up hill the wheels need to be turned all the way to the left. Downhill, just the opposite, turn them all the way to the right.

yes go out and practise this. i wont tell you which way to turn the wheels instead just go to a hill with a curb. park leave the brake off put it in neutral and turn the wheels one way see which way you need to turn the wheels so the cars rolls back and then stops because the front wheels have hit the curb. if you do it this way you will understand it much better.Any gm shop people could tell me what size rear end i have under my 86 pontiac wagon?
