How does the UK border work with foreigners cars??

Question:
IM planning on driving all the way from Italy to London and stay for a month aprox., could I do so even if the car its in my girlfriends name(shes not going)? cheers

Providing you are insured to drive the car, it has the appropriate documentation and you have the correct licence you should not have any problems. To make sure, get a signed statement from her stating that she has given you permission to bring the car to the UK. Also carry with you the original registration documents for the car (not photocopies) and the insurance certificate. I know that in Italy cars are not always registered in the current owners name, it might be fortuitous to make sure that this one is. It is doubtful you will be asked for documents other than your passport when entering Britain, but better to be safe than sorry.
