if you can at least put 50% down.We bought the Toyota Prius when it FIRST came out (the newer style) and it was about $25K (US) loaded, we think it's VERY worth it. However the same car is now about $30K.

A lot of it would be the amount of distance you drive. If you do a lot of highway driving, then you would be on the engine anyway. if you count up the higher purchase price add to that higher maintainence costs and the price of replacement battery pack about( $5000 i'm told)you may not be saving any money at all.
no one seems to know how long the battery pack will last so if you don't
keep the vehicle too long it won't be a problem
