Question:
I have a small garage and there is another garage on the other side of the alley so I cannot drive straight in and out. Because the door of my garage is not that wide, I also cannot pull in or out with just one turn of the wheel; I have to go back and forth a couple times (for example, when I go to pull in, I have to overshoot the door and aim at the wall of the garage, then put the car in reverse to get a clear shot at the opening). Is there some technique that will simplify this process? I seem to have more problems backing out, and have scraped the side of my car on the door frame a couple times. While 99 percent of the time I don't make contact with the frame, I feel like it is taking me longer to accomplish than it should, and when people are in the alley waiting to pass I don't like inconveniencing them (I often pull back in to let them pass). Would it help to park more to one side of the garage or try to be in the center? Would backing in and pulling out be better?

I would try the backing in so you may just pull out when you need to go somewhere. One it's safer pulling out rather than backing out. Also, you are coming home so you always have more time to back in than you have to back out ~~~ ie running late for work or an appointment. How can i make my car go faster.?
I too have a thin alley garage and it cuts down on my stress to back in.
I have a neighbor who he and his wife have to wait on me as I park because we often get home at the same time.
One Saturday I took them a homemade pizza and six pack of beer ~~~ with my apology for keeping them waiting sometimes. Now they just smile at me and wave instead of giving me the "Oh No, not her again look".
Back in car turns sharper when backing up.
move or build bigger garage,..smaller car
