I find it strange that he has to qualify himself over and over again.But he probably does own a "shop" and has been a mechanic for years but he doesn't have a lot of work and therefore has plenty of time to give his opinion.
Like others have said maybe he is just trying to help and he thinks that he is an expert.
He does admit that he is not always right.So I say let him be. Atleast he isn't rude and obnoxious like some on here.

I've found his answers to be pretty good myself. After 36 years in the biz, he should know his stuff.Why have you singled him out, when there are so many smart aleck answers on yahoo?
