Depends how the speedo is driven and what the problem is. does the odometer, usually called the mileometer, still give the correct distance? If so then the problem is with the speed indication and a change of dash instruments would be necessary. If both the speed and the distance recorder are running slow then it will probably be related to the cable and a check should be made as to the connection to the gearbox and the back of the instrument panel. If both are correctly fitted than a new cable may cure the problem. If none of these than the problem is in the output from the gearbox and will need a rebuild.are the wheels a standard size? if you've got aftermarket wheels on then they may be larger overall (wheel and tyre combination) which will cause a different reading.
