I just failed my driving test as I messed up the reverse parking! Everything else was great, I just cannot seem to get to grips with the reverse parking. Any Tips? Im gutted :-(

You need to be familiar with the car's turning circle and with its length. When your back wheels are getting near to the kerb, bring the front end round. Also, it's better to slightly brush your wheels on the kerb rather than end up sticking out into the road.

Try watching other people do it, from inside and outside of the car. Watch the way they control the car and try to replicate that.
I'm sure you did, but you should also be sure to take your test in the same car you learn in. Even a different car of the same size will have different shape windows, different blind spots etc and will be different to park for a little while.

Then. When you can do it, go for your test and you probably wont have to do it. lol
Go slow and take your time. It takes a lot of practice. take some time and with a parent or experianced friend find a parking lot with no cars. Get some orange cones (Often found at sporting good stores) and put them on the lines in the parking lot. then pratice your manevers. One you have it down take the test in the same car. that way you have the comfort and experiance with that car. hope this helps.

Hers is the way you will do it right time after time.I used tov teach those truck drivers who drive those long lorries.
If you can imagine they have no middle mirror because they cant see through the truck they only have side mirrors.
What you do is take your car on a lonely road and practise over and over again using only your side mirrors to reverse do not look backwards or over your shoulder or use your centre mirror just get use to reversing and positioning your car with the side mirrors and quite quickly you will mater it.
Of course for your test you will have to use looking over your shoulder but thats ok and once the driving tester sees you using your mirrors he will pass you

Bad luck! When I learned to drive reversing around a corner was my manouver that I always struggled with. Unfortunately, it came up on the test but this time I managed it perfectly. I suspect that during my lessons my teacher was forcing me to do it too slowly and once 'let loose' I reversed slightly faster at a speed more comfortable for me.The best advice is practice, practice, practice. Keep trying and you'll get it. Next test it may not even come up.

Sorry to hear that. No doubt your instructor is planning some concentration on that aspect - it IS true that practice makes perfect. The way I learned to reverse park was to align my car mirror to mirror with the car I was parking behind. Start to reverse and when my wing mirror was aligned with the back of the car turn the wheel in about 3/4 lock. When the back of my car was about 2'' off the kerb turn my wheels to 3/4 opposite lock. You will then straighten up and voila!
