Is anyone familiar with the Fiat 126?

Question:
I have a friend who is a mechanic- his wife bought a Fiat 126 as a runaround and he got it all up to scratch for her- right before she went out and bought a Polo instead!

Why do Lamborghini's' cost sooo. Much?

The car is in A1 condition and my friend has offered to give it to me, free of charge, as I have been on at him for ages to give a car that I can tinker with and learn the basics of mechanics. I'd also use it as a runaround as I already have a sensible hatchback that I use for longer journeys.

Forign or domestic cars?

So what, honestly, is the 126 like, bearing in mind this one is better than when it rolled off of the production line and will stay that way? Is a mini a good comparison?

Tyre : 195/45 15 78 V?

Any serious answers appreciated- thanks!

Has anyone pulled with a Ranger?

oh yes I'm very familiar with that automobile. I use to break down on the 101 and pull over on the side of the 405 and fix it right there. I always kept my tool box near by me.

What do u think of the ford focus?

A friend of mine had one and although a bit slow and basic it proved very reliable and very cheap to run.

Permit question...?

Any car is only as good as any car as long as it is looked after properly. T he 126 is not a bad little car as long as it is serviced etc on time, keep an eye on the bodywork as rust can spread like the plauge if u dont look after it, ur getting the car for nothing so what r u worrying about.

Why do so many inept drivers buy, and drive SUV's? Most are bullies, the rest can barely drive a car!?

If it's being offered free, then it's the best car in the world! Not only will it teach you basic mechanics, it'll teach you how to drive properly too. The challenge a car as slow as a 126 (or a 2CV) presents is how to just keep up with normal traffic, as there is no power to spare. Try it, it's fun!
P.S. it's almost a 'classic' nowadays, so if you keep it in good nick, it'll be worth money in a few years. Think I'm kidding? Look what they charge for it's predecessor, the Fiat 500 (£2000-plus)

What cars have you owned since you passed your test?

Yes i had a 126 for a couple of years it was a 3 cylinder and sounded like a lawn mower but stuck to the road like a go cart, its not as slow as some people say , ok its not good on motorways but for town driving its brill, easy to park cheap to run and the engine is in the rear and easy to work on ....HAVE FUN...!

Would you notice if a speed camera has caught you?

it's an Italian classic not without it's faults anymore than the mini but it has attitude and you don't see many anymore their fun ,i used to call them the fun size fiat and i new people that owned them and even though they had a tool kit on hand they were always smiling
