I had Advanced Autp parts check and see why my check engine light was on and the man said my catalytic covertor was stopping up. How will this effect my car? I drive a 99 Grand Am? Will it cause my car to not accelerate, because when i was going up a hill the car wouldnt "kick it" like it use to it was as if it stayed the same speed and kind of even slowed down.

if in fact the cat conv. is plugged up causing no power, it should still be under manufacturers warranty. 49 state warranty is 7 years 70000 miles calif is 8yrs 80000 miles .what was the stored code, I wouldn't trust a parts man with a scanner any day of the week. they are there to sell parts not fix cars.

ok check this out the catalytic converter has to do with the exhaust... it is so you can pass smog... when going up a hill you will lose a little bit of power just for the fact the you dont have your exhaust system at a 100% but the only thing that will happen to your car is that you will pay more for gas than usuallWhat is it called when the steering wheel is on the right side of the vehicle?
If your converter is plugged you will loose all performance especially at higher RPM. You need to have it replaced, then have your engine management system tested. The most likley cause of the failure is to much unburned fuel exiting your engine via the exhaust. ie. possible misfireIs it really hard to get car driver's license in Australia?
one of the pieces of ceramic in the catalytic converter has came loose and clogging up the outlet pipe. My chevy truck did that and I opened up the exhaust right behind the converter and took a long rod and broke that piece up and started it up to get those few pieces out and it all was good from that point on.Are you allowed to drive a electric scooters?
Yeah, it'll block the exhaust flow and it might not run right. It'll smell like rotten eggs too, when the actual material inside it goes bad. You'll pull up at a stop and people will tell you that you smell bad. Believe me, it sucks. Luckily, it's pretty damn easy and cheap to fix. Don't let them rip you off! It's easy to access, take off heat shields if they're there, and just unbolt it and bolt a new one up. You can use any cheap converter on ebay.
