Couldn't agree more mate - motorists are a soft target and an easy way of generating VAST amounts of revenue. I'm glad its not just me that can see the lie behind this 'green concern' that they've suddenly found, its a cash thing pure and simple. We are conditioned, every time you turn the TV on we hear how global warming is going to kill us all within 50 years - BOLLOCKS, its not even scientifically proved yet but once we get brained washed into believing that it green lights the government to steal more and more cash from us. Road pricing? its a nailed on certainty that'll happen, no-one will drive less, we still need to get to work etc. its all about fleecing us for cash - end of.Most depressing thing is that people will sit at work or in pubs and whine about it and then what - nothing, they'll all just take it up the shitter and cough up. We ought to adopt the attitude of the French, couple of years ago the air traffic controllers were told about new working practices that meant working more hours for less money and some would get laid off - did they go and whine to a union? did they just lie down and take it? no, they were out on the runways breaking bottles and causing chaos, and the result? they got their way and got left alone.
I concur! If the extra tax money was spent directly on the environment and road improvements it help perhaps a little but it just gets sucked into the system and spent on who knows what (maybe the £400 million to faltten Iraq) who knows. What can we do? We all need cars to get to work etc as public transport isnt dependable enough. My old boss used to dock my wages when I was late due to a cancelled train or late bus!
