How to disable the car radio anti theft system?

Question:
My g/f's car has the anti theft system in her car that takes a code to unlock it when triggered. The problem is the thing goes off for no reason and the car will not start until it decides to turn off. We do not have the code, so it sucks when it will not allow the car to start for 30 minutes and get stranded where ever we may be. My question: Is there a way I can disable or remove the thing from the car so this is no longer an issue? Other than buying an aftermarket radio?

Anyone ever heard of mpg caps?

Its a Jeep isn't it? There are sites you can go to. We had the same problem with ours.
Thing of it is, it could be other problems too. Make sure its not your starter, its not your alternator and its not a fuel filter line.
If the auto device is giving you trouble, you have to go to a auto dealer. IF not, you can really mess something up.
Other wise..there is something you CAN do, but I honestly oppose it since we did and we had to trade in our Jeep for something else because thats not what it was.
Too, there could be lose wires on the Jeep or the car. make sure that your wire cables don't have oil on them or grease or anything such as that. They could be touching something allowing them not to connect and cut out.
Usually, by going to the door on the passanger side, if you turn the key and hold it, it can have some effect. Because thats how you turn off some alarm systems.
However, anything else go to a car dealer place, because they have the device to do it, and you won't ruin your car like we did by trying to get ours out. Thats my best answer.. Good luck!

What should I read if I want to learn more about cars.?

Hi Chris
I am fairly up on GM cars and trucks. If your g/f has one of their products I may be able to assist. I know that GM programs a code into the radio that requires a re-set if the power/battery is romoved. The techs use a 9volt battery plugged into the cigarette lighter when they change the car battery. Also I have a neighbor that drives an '89 model camero with an alarm system. I was able to get her car started one day without the keys for her..
Seeing both conditions on the car at the same time makes me want to look at the electrical schematics. The radio should have no control over the starting of the engine. Unless there is a short somewere. I think i would disable her alarm if there is one installed. If you are in the detroit area with a GM car.. i may have the schematics for it. don m

What's the top part of the engine called?

buy a after market radio if you need a place were you get them at with out cutting wires let me know i will send you the link all you need to do remove old/ place new one with out cutting wires good luck
