White plastic film on new cars?

Question:
That white plastic film they put on new cars, does anyone know exactly what that is and where it could be purchased? I have a custom vehicle that I show frequently and for any shorter trips under 50 miles I would like to put some on the front end and hood to protect from rock chips for short distances that it would be perfect for and I can't find anything about it online.

its plastic. simple as that. the most likely place you could buy that or have that put on your car is at a boat store.
here in canada at least they cover the boats for winter storage with that stuff and will do that to any boat if you take it in . so they could do a car as well.
