Question:
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck and its like 7 months old. I use a radar detector and here lately i haven't been able to use it because its been blowing the small glass tube fuse inside the plug in. anyways i dont know if this hurts anything but i have my remote power wire scotch locked (spliced) onto the wire on my cigarette lighter plug. (This wire is only hot when the key is turned on) Everytime i plug it in and it does its beeping through the signals, the fuse blows. My question is, Is this the remote power wire causing this or is it the radar detector? Anyone have any ideas on this?

Sounds like detector is bad, does the cigarette lighter work OK? if so its your detector.Nuf SaidIs it possible to "drift race" a mid-engine, or rear engine car? Such as a Porsche or a Ferrari?
So is it the fuse that goes to the lighter? or to the detector? If it's the fuse to the detector you need a new detector. If it's the one on the lighter, then you may want to disconnect the scotch. see if you have the same problem. If the fuse still blows you need a new detector.Why doesn't the rear window tint on my car go all the way up to the top of the window?
i own a shop,and yes that's what may be causing this to happen its trying to draw to many amps through this small circuit,id try finding another power source and see if that helps it,,the radar detector usually don't draw that much voltage,but this one might be trying to draw too much,good luck hope this helps.1960 ceylonese police front number plate?
There must be some kind of a short in the detectors; circuitry. Take it back an ask for a new one.More Questions & Answers ...
