Question:
I don't mean to be funny ... but the economists say, "Make the car Economy Friendlly".
Can anybody tell me how much 16" alloys for a CRV will cost from a Honda dealer UK.?
They shave the miles per gallon, the change the consuption, all kinds of stuff to make the air cleaner ... but it seems almost as if they go very far out of the way to make the car super super super SUPER ugly.
Why then?! Take for instance this:

Now, don't get me wrong. Mercedes has it in the bag with their C220 BLUETEC concept. 50 MPG and not too much of an eyesore.

Maybe the "greenies" don't mind being seen in one of the disasters-on-wheels? Perhaps it's a badge of honour showing that you care more for the environment than how dorky you appear? When will we stop using gasoline?

Ugly is objective.

I really don't know, but I agree that the designers have no sense of style, only brains. For instance, look at the Prius. It is the ugliest car next to the PT (Loser) Cruiser ever made.Unfortunately, good aerodynamics usually equates to an ugly car. You usually find a rounded, bulbous frontal area, slab sides, and a cut-off tail. The bodywork is devoid of shapes, protrusions, body moulding or cladding... Deviating from this means worse aerodynamics. This is why race cars (F1, Le Mans, etc.) are usually quite ugly when seen in real life, although the paint schemes are often designed to hide this to some extent.
I was in a garage and a car fell on my head. How much can I claim for?
there are a bunch of reasons..some practical, some not. small skinny tires provide for low rolling resistance, and light weight, same for the wheels... a light car does not need big brakes...so small wheels provide for the lightest weight. The shape of the car is the product of aerodynamics, with very little style consideration, since the ecco-cars are battling over mpg, not coolness. The cars are also marketed to appear ecco-friendly...no visible exhaust pipes...small air intakes...looking as denuded as possible. Consider the consumer that buys them.More Questions & Answers ...
