You cant just go painting yellow lines on the road. Imagine if everyone started to do this.there would be chaos.Outside your house is just that...outside your house, your remit and your responsibility.
If someone wants to park outside your house there is nothing you can do about it if they are not blocking access.
Nobody will get fined, towed away or in any other way punished for parking on your yellow lines, however, you could end up with the bill from the council, roads service or whoever, for the removal of the lines.
As to your neighbours sanity.if i had to choose who I would spend 10 mins in a dark room filled with knives with...sorry mate

When painting lines like those, you have to go to the city council and ask permission. They will most likely have a certain set of rules as to how they want them painted and may have a fee for doing it.

Your local council won't like it at all. Part the reason they paint the lines is so they can fine / tow away cars that park in those areas.What was the average gas price in 2002?

No, you are breaking the law. You don't own the road outside your house so have no right to say whether or not people can park there. This is decided by your local councils transportation/roads department. Also, did you do this so you'd always get a parking space? I'd laugh my *** off if you got a parking ticket as a result.
Why didn't you paint a red line on the curb? That's the protocol not to park on a curb.

Just don't admit to anyone else that you painted the line. Tell them you don't know how it got there and let that be it in case the police question you or your nosy neighbor calls the police on you.

Well not knowing where you are I would say that yes you are breaking the law, but most likely, unless your neighbour complains you won't get caught. It comes down to what gives you the right to decide where people can park their car. The law is not in your favor. However, most law enforcement agency's have better things to do then hassle you about this. At worst they will just make you paint the Yellow over with black.He is right. Only the city-council can make that decision. It is not you that decides who gets a ticket for parking there.
However. You can write to your city council to get those lines legally. It is worth a try and should take only a week or so to get a 'final' answer. Also many city councils will allow you to have a 'private' parking area in front of your house. It will be linked to your number plate registration.

You don't have any claim to the road outside your house you have absolutely no say in who can or cannot park there. It is up to the council to decide where yellow lines go, not you. That way they get to collect all the parking fines.
