I am driving to Senagal in a Transit van, what spare parts and tools should I bring?

Question:
So far I've got on my list:

I am hung over like crazy and have a drivers examination in an hour. should i take it or reschedule?

Replacement belts
New gaskets
Several spare tyres/wheels
A cambelt and a new head in case of cambelt failure
Spare rubber hoses in case I lose a radiator hose
Gaffer tape
Lots of water/oil
Power steering and brake fluid
Several 40 litre drums of Diesel

Why have car manufacturers never installed compasses as standard equipment on cars?

Need to know what else, bearing in mind that Transit spares are impossible to get out there, and if I break down on the way and can't get going again I might be in serious trouble...
