Question:
Given the new road tax increases outlined in the Budget today, I'm half worried that my road tax might go up. My Elise has 'only' a Rover 1.8 engine in it and I get the same kinda mileage out of it as I do my 1.4 Clio, as far as I'm aware it's not a big polluter, anyone have any ideas what road tax band it would fall into?!
Answers:
What happened to all those electric cars back in the 90's? Why aren't they available now?
Because your car was first registered before 1st March 2001, it is taxed based on engine size, not emissions. Therefore it is unaffected by changes to the emissions-based taxation for newer cars.It falls into the over 1549cc category - tax of £180 per year.
