What's better 4 high or 4 low?

Question:

Answers:

Why is that when not driving at slow speeds it is very difficult shift into first gear?

Neither is better or worse simply for different situations, 4Low would be used in areas of tough going deep mud and sand etc or very heavy towing. 4Hi is generally for general road speeds and offers greater traction then 2Hi if that is available is simply for everyday use less drivetrain running (since only 2 wheels driving) so usually better economy and the front tyres last longer since the hubs just free wheel (not being held back by the diff) though thats more of an issue in much older 4x4s
