How economical is a Holden Commodore VT petrol wise?

We are planning on going to buy a car tomorrow. We have looked online and my partner has found a really nice car that he wants, but I am concerned about the petrol consumption.

Can I carry a sailboard on top of a 4-door compact sedan? Have you done this?

Im guessing you'll be getting a V6. They're pretty good on fuel but it depends on how and where you drive it. Oviously like any car you will use more fuel driving in the city than on the highway. I have a VT but its a 5L V8 and I get about 500km per tank doing both city and highway driving. Not too bad but the V6 will be better. Good luck on the car.
