Will my hunk o'junk be accepted by a big car dealership as a trade-in?

Question:
I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6...and this car is a POS. I really want to get rid of it and get me a newer vehicle. I just don't want to go to a dealership and get laughed off the lot because nothing on the thing works! Examples..A/C doesn't cool( something we are going to fix, this is TX ya gotta have a/c), steering is off because I got in an accident just after x-mas, the front driverside fender is bent in and the door is smashed up, but does open and close just doesn't close flush with the frame of the car. Only the passenger side front window opens, all the rest are either off the track or the motor went out. The seats are messed up because of the kids. oh yeah and one of the front headlights is a little messed up because of that accident as well. Everything else is good. I don't expect much for trade in if it is accepted but I don't want to be embarassed by a salesman. Or should I just sell it on my own? Any advice?

Does a car with the same engine that has an automatic transmission sound the same as one with a manual?

They'll probably take it, but they don't want it. New car dealerships are very particular about the presentability of the vehicles on their lot. So, they'll probably not offer you as much as you could get selling it yourself.

Yes they will trade take it in on trade. You just won't get as much if you sold it privately

How do I get someones address from their plate #?

If it's in that bad of shape, I can't see the dealership taking it on trade. I would see what kind of deal you could get privately and then take the money in as a partial down payment.

If top end cars like the Mercedes and Rolls Royce have awesome engines, why do they give poor mileage?

Find a place that is having a sale, like "bring in your car for 8k guaranteed trade in". I just saw a commercial for a local one earlier. I think it was Beford Ford company or something. Another local one offers 2k guaranteed trade in (a few times a year).

Is it possible to convert an electric golf cart to a gas golf cart, and if so how hard is it?

I personally would sell it outright and don't trade it in. You probably won't get much, but at least it would be something to use for a down payment. Most dealerships will try and work with you as to your down payment. They are out to sell cars and will find a way to work with you. One time I only had $ 500.00 to work with and I was able to get a car financed. Good luck, I'm sure you will be able to find a nice car.

Do you like enviromentally friendly cars??

Sell it as is. If you trade it in they will accept it but they are not going to give you much for it and then they are going to auction it off at a dealer auction. It's better to walk in with cash in hand, they know you're serious and ready to deal.

Dealers will take almost anything on trade. They just give you less for a POS.

How many gas stations are there in U.S.A?

Be careful if they offer you more trade-in value than the car is actually worth. That probably means they're making it up on financing or the price of the new car.

Why aren't diesel engines offered on more cars/trucks sold in the USA?

A dealer will not give you as much as you could get by selling it yourself. There is always someone looking for a car like yours, maybe for parts or to fix up. I suggest cleaning it up, put it in your yard with a FOR SALE sign on it and go from there. Don't get discouraged. If that doesn't work, get a newer car anyway and tow off the old one! Good luck!!
