Question:
I bought some 195/60R14 Michelin Pilots to go on my '67 VW bus. But I can't figure out if the load rating on the tire is enough for my vehicle. The bus weighs between 2500+lbs and the tire rating is 1168lbs. Is this tire going to explode when I turn or stop, how can I find out what I need?
Answers:
What year did the ignition key become the same key as the car door key?
1168 times two tires per axle= 2336 so you got 4672 for the whole vehicle. You should be just peachy as long as you aren't cornering at 50 MPH and loading down a personal freeweight gym in your van.'94 Acura Integra Rs VS '95 Nissan 240SX S14 Coupe?
I think your tires are worth more than the bus right now. You cant turn fast and hard enough to peal a wheel in that.1168 lbs PER TIRE should be the tire rating for the ones you have. Multiply that by 4 to get the total combined capacity of all your tires. Your tires have a combined capacity of 4642 pounds!
Will you be carrying in excess of 2000 pounds in the bus? If not you are fine! Remember the tires full load capacity is at full tire pressure. This is measured while cold and is shown on the tires sidewall.
