It's because they are further away from residential areas where there are schools (where applications for masts are often refused), but they are in an open enough area to still provide good coverage. There is virtually no contest to the applications for motorway mobile phone masts because most people don't live near enough to one for it to bother them.Why will i waste you in a race?

Simple.the land near the motorways is cheaper the phone company's to put up their masts and also it makes them easier to service the said masts when they need to perform work on them. Would you rather the phone company's put their masts up in a cheaper land area to reduce your rates for your cell phone service, or on a higher price land and jack your rates up?
