Did you recently put gas in it? If so, try tightening your gas cap. Also, try AutoZone or another type of auto parts store and see if they can scan your ECU. They'll do it for free, whereas a repair shop will charge you $60+ for the service. Of course, the repair shops equipment is a lot better. Hope this helps.a few questions about driving?

Check your gas cap, if its not on tight it can set off the warning light. Also the seal can go bad in them sometimes , this is why emissions control department tests them.It may be a bad O2 sensor or mass air flow sensor or possibly your catalytic converter going out. If you are getting a smell of rotten eggs have your catalytic converter checked out
Does putting yout car in neutral when you stop or while you coast save gas?
Goto your local auto store they will hook up the code reader to your car and read the codes. This will tell you what you need to replace. Usually it is a sensor, oxygen, EGR or tempature sensor, could also be the catalytic convertor, but the code reader (OBDII) will tell you exactly what it is, and get it fixed soon.
