People hated Older Skodas for good reason, the fact that you can now buy the same car as the latest Golf or A3 for a fraction of the cost by buying a Skoda Fabia VRS is a completely different story. The reason people now hate them is Badge Snobbery they are as good and is some cases muh better tha n other cars that cost more than them and so people are jealous.

Older Com-bloc Skodas weren't even very useful as boat anchors (They couldn't be counted upon to remain in one piece as they sunk), but that really is a thing of the past.
