**I've held a full UK license for about 20years & been driving for over 10years and driven commercially for a short time too. I've never ever noticed any detrimental effects from drinking coffee and then driving. If you drink coffee normally - carry on it will top up your caffeine levels and hence your alertness and ability ro respond. If you didn't drink coffee normally then it could make you jittery and nervy with palpitations. I reckon coffee is always the way forward for coffee drinkers, keep your carrene levels topped up under pressure to prevent headaches and shakey withdrawals.
