Do people ever sell their cars for more than blue book?

Question:
Is it even possible, better yet.. illegal at all? I'm bidding on a car on ebay that I'm going to look at tomorrow. Bluebook is 1200 in EXCELLENT condition. Right now it's at 1225 and earlier when I talked to the guy he said reserve is 2k-2.5k.

Answers:

Hail protection?

Yes--all the time. No it's not illegal--the blue book is only a reference book . In some areas certain cars/ trucks get a premium price--just like some are worth less. For example it's almost impossible to sell a car in the Phoenix, AZ area without air conditioning--- but, in other areas the lack of air conditioning has little effect on value. If I go to sell my 1968 firebird by blue-book value it would hardly cover the cost of the paint job--- but I can get 10 times that value on the going market.
