the Ford Explorer get about 21 mpg and has lots of power with the 4.0 ohc, the same engine used in the New Mustangs :)

I have an explorer 4.0L SOHC and gets 15-16mpg (sport package, large wheels, two doors, ect.) and had a cherokee that had 16-18mpg on average. Thats the going mialage for any SUV. Buy American! The best trucks and suv's are all american. Good luck with your new SUV.
