It sounds like a fan or something. its very noticeable when you get near the car...and the engine is off. i know nothing about cars so i have no idea what it is.

Sorry, not a guy....but may be able to help...lol. Well first, you need to go have a diagnosis ran on it, most places with do it for free. It could be as mentioned before a relay switch shorting out or a bad ground and draining the battery, but that wouldn't explain the ABS light coming on, unless of course they run through the same electrical line somehow or by coninsidence your brakes are bad too. It could also be a bad alternator. It can cause all kinds of electrical mishaps. When mine went out on my SUV, I had all kinds of weird electrical stuff happening. Once I changed it all was well. Both the relay switches, ground wires and alternator can be easily checked with a amp/volt meter you can get at an auto part store. You can get a Chilton for your vehicle there also and it will tell you where everything is located and how to check it with the meter. The Chilton will also tell you how to run your own diagnoisis. I do mine with a paper clip and dash lights. Good luck......PS....you can always take it to a trusted mechanic...lola cat?

If you raise the hood, what component is the noise coming from? If it happens when the engine is off and it drains the battery, sounds like something is running when it shouldn't. Cooling fans will run for a little while after the car is turned off in some models, though.rolling road tuning near chorley?
ABS is the anti-lock braking system, but it should not have anything moving when the car is off.

As the previous answer states, some air-cooled cars have fans that will continue running after you turn off the engine (my '86 VW Golf did), but it stops itself when a certain temperature is reached (assuming the sensor is working properly), so the battery shouldn't die - unless you have a bad battery or alternator.

I also concur that the Antilock Braking System should not be contributing to the noise. Although some brake systems have hydraulics that will make a hissing sound if there's a leak, but I don't think that would drain your battery. Still, I think having your brakes working well is a top priority (especially in winter) so get the vehicle to the shop ASAP!

i own a repair shop,and it may actually be the cooling fan staying on due to a bad relay for it,,the relay controls it,and if it sticks,or goes out they will do this,and it will drain a good battery in less than 30 minutes,,you need to have it checked real good to be sure,good luck,i hope this help,s.Getting my windows tinted today?
noise is cooling fan and that is normal when engine is hot for a short period of time.if it keeps running and kills the battery it could be temperature sensor or cooling fan relay. hopes this helps.sorry can't help with the abs light ,could be any of a variety of problems.Can anyone tell me how to keep my mini four wheeler in good condition?
It is the cooling fan, sometimes they stay on for a few seconds after you shut your car off when the engine is hot...... I would say it was a bunch of leprechauns...... but that might care you... 0_0!!More Questions & Answers ...
