They're all different. In most instances, you have 1-2 more gallons of gasoline in the tank when the light comes on. How many miles that will get you is what varies.

It defiantly would vary from car to car, depends on what you get for gas mileage. My car, according to the manual with it, will go another 12 to 15 miles. Don't know how accurate that is because to really find out, you would have to drive it until it ran out of gas. That does not sound like a fun thing to do for me.

It's really hard to say. It depends on what kind of car you have and even then, it really is something that depends on your individual car. In my car, the low gas light never even comes on. If you get much below 1/4 tank of gas, you're continuing at your own risk. I've run out of gas before on my way to the gas station when the meter still said I had over 1/8 a tank.a few miles, i wouldnt take a chance though.
