How do you prevent car dings in a crowded car lot?

They used to have E-Check up here in Ohio. I believe they cut it to save money. What they did was check to see if your car was clean ... meaning if your car released too much bad gases into the air. You had to get it fixed. And I didn't know that you had to tell the insurance company about any modifcations. I guess thats not the case here in Ohio.
