Why are most squad cars either an impala or lumina?

Does anyone know why the police and detectives use the Chevy Impala or Chevy Lumina as the basic squad car? Well it's that way in milwaukee but i wanted to know if anyone knows why they have used those cars?

technically these are not you impala or lumina they are specialy designed cars that are set up specially for police work. You can buy the enforcer( the basic cop car) at certain dealerships but they are not made to tthe same standards as the actual cop cars
