I think my car should be totaled but my ins co does not think so.?

I have an 2006 Impala. I was in an accident the other day and damages total $8500. Besides concerns for using used parts and rebuilding parts of the engine I really don't feel satisfied or safe in this rebuilt car. Is there anything I can do, thanks.

Be sure to take the car to a good body shop. They can rebuild the car so that it is as good as new, look like nothing happened to it and will be very safe. If the job is done right, and most good body shops will do the job right you will have a good safe car again.

if you think the car is that bad then you can demand a pay off but they only give you bluebook price for it and it probably wont pay the loan off unless you have the replacment coverage. Car parts now a days are expensive.You may have minor damage at $8500 and it justs looks worse than it is. But if the engine runs and the frame isnt bent it will probably be fine.Ask for a guaranty on the work and parts they use and go from there.Look at it this way---can you afford to pay extra for a new car when you have to roll over what you owe on the impala after the ins. pays your car off at blue book and your stuck paying the intrest to the bank on a car you dont have?

if the damage is less then blue book value your insurance company gets to decide weather or not it's totaled.
however if you feel there is a safety issue and the ins. co. refuses to consider your concerns you should contact the insurance commissioner. if that doesn't work call a lawyer. ****if you don't have gap insurance you will more then likely take a loss on your totaled car. good luck
