Bought a 2007 Hyundai Elantra 2 weeks ago. Love the car, not so hot about the gas mileage.?

Question:
Will it improve after the engine is "broken in"?

Answers:

Which car is best to use as a taxi cab here in the philippines? toyota vios or corolla altis?

As with all vehicles in winter time, the gas formula is changed, and colder dense air reduces engine combustion efficiency; the engine works harder to keep warm because a hot engine burns more completely the fuel it is fed. If it's cold, not all of the fuel vapor gets ignited. There's a cutoff limit to how cold it can get before it is no longer giving you performance gains. For my twin turbo it's something like 50F.

Estimated cost of 3174 mile journey?

That's why an engine runs rich (needs more fuel) when it's first started on a cold morning, and leans out the hotter it gets. But when you're driving, it obviously has to work to keep the engine warm against the cold air that's hitting it. I'm sure everyone notices the strong smell of fuel vapor in the morning when your engine is idling high in the driveway (trying to warm itself up fast), and most of that smoke coming out your tailpipe is unburned (wasted) gas.

Any one know a site where i can get exact weights of numerous cars?

Using your heater and seat warmers if you have them, my Audi has 4, will also use up power and require the engine to make up for that lost heat.

It has a little to do with your engine being new as well, and if you're driving over 55, you won't be seeing those numbers on the sticker adding up to $$ in your wallet. The best mileage is achieved at 55-65MPH.

What do you think is the sexiest car in the world?

Chevron:
Winter weather conditions can combine to lower fuel economy 20 percent, compared with the summer. In cold weather, a richer fuel-air mixture is required to start and warm up the engine. Also, much of the warmup may be done at idle (zero fuel economy) because of the need to defog or defrost windows. (During defogging/defrosting, many vehicles not only heat the air but use the air conditioner to dehumidify it.) More energy is required to overcome the resistance created by the higher viscosities of cold lubricants – engine oil, transmission fluid, and differential lubricant. Head winds increase air resistance; rain necessitates windshield wiper use; water or snow on the road increase tire-rolling resistance;

How many of you have ever driven intoxicated?

Yes, like they other guy said you should gain 2-3 miles a gallon once its broken in. A way to increase your gas mileage some more is to get a cold-air intake system for it. You can find them on ebay, you will gain about another 2-3 miles a gallon plus an additional 5-7 horsepower rating. Since your car is a pretty popular model you should find one for under $100.00
