Why is the acceleration pedal so hard to push?

Question:
I am really thinking about buying a Olds Intrigue and I really like it and everything is good with it but I noticed the acceleration pedal is really hard to push when I want to go a little faster I have to push pretty hard...I know it might be just because I'm used to a Chevy Corsica and and I would get used to the hard pushing pedal but, I was just wondering if anything wrong with the car would make it be hard to push to accelerate?

Usually the heavy pedal resistance is caused by the throttle return spring,,and these can be changed for lighter ones, if need be.
Then there might be a restriction in the throttle cable,,may be rusted,,or kinked,,etc

You can adjust it in the front of the car.. The throttle cable adjuster, springs, and stuff would affect it
