Sounds like the shift lock could be busted, try manually pressing the shift lock release button by the shifter and shifting it out of park. If that doesn't work then I guess I'm wrong...Spider gears might be jamed.... does it ever go out.... first check your transmission fluid...do you have any? if not put some in and let it soak in for a bit. then try it...if not i would take it to an auto shop...sounds like the gears are jammed and you might need a transmission rebuild

Do your brake lights work?The brake light switch on my Taurus went bad and wouldn't turn on when I applied the brakes. When the brake lights wouldn't turn on, the transmission didn't "know" I was depressing the brake pedal and therefore wouldn't allow me to go from Park to any other gear. Once I realized that I had to wiggle the brake light switch at the brake pedal and/or replaced that switch, the transmission would work again.
