Gas mileage drops after tune-up, brake job?

Question:
1999 Toyota Corolla with 55,000 miles, auto trans.
Took to my independent mechanic, 1 man who does all the work. I have been taking cars to him for 8 yrs and never had any problems with him, and trust all his work.
Took this car to him for a few routine maint. things....he put in 4 new spark plugs, replacing the AC plugs that were in there with NGK plugs, and replaced air filter, and he cleaned and adjusted rear brakes.
The gas mileage has dropped from 35 miles per gallon to 25 miles per gallon ( immediately after mechanic did this work)
Should I take it back to mechanic and see if he can do anything?

If he reused the old spark plug wires that could be why. The old wires tend to break and pull apart when only replacing the spark plugs, Make sure he replaces the wires, distributor cap and the distributor rotor.

what is the flash point on gasoline?

It's unusual that a Toyota with 55K would have AC plugs. Unless your brakes are dragging, I would take it back and have him check it. It he comes up with nothing, I would have him put the same type plug (new) that he removed. Should put you back where you were, at least.

Good Car Vaccum within $35?

Yes. He has it running to rich (fuel/air mixture) Note the high idling in the morning. Ask him to check base idle with vaccuum gauge, sticker under hood should tell you what idle should be.

Sounds like the brakes are dragging.

whats the smallest cheapest van a 4m carpet roll will fit into?

That car is rated best with a 4 speed automatic at 28 city 36 highway. That is the EPA rating. Most vehicles don't actually get the laboratory rating on the highway or anywhere else. I doubt your mileage changed. Maybe your driving habits changed, or you are doing more city driving now.
