V12 versus V8 engine sound?

Question:
Why is it that V12's typically have a higher pitched whine (i.e. Lamborghini Countach) and V8's typically have a deeper grumble to them (i.e. Ford Mustang)?

The V-12 engines have more cylinder firings per revolution than a V-8 or V-6 or straight 6 or 4. More cylinder firings and higher revolutions per minute make for a higher frequency exhaust note.

As someone who OWNS a v12, and a v8 vehicle, I can tell you that it's ALL about tuning.
