it depends on the costs around your area and the type of car. you have to look at car washes (10 bucks), oil changes every 3,000 miles (30 dollars and up) then are certain times according to the manufacture you have to get break line and transmission fluid flushed, (about 80 bucks each ) you have to get new break pads (about 300) belts and hoses replaced (expensive) tune ups, your tires rotated, sometimes you have to get a new tire because one gets flat and they cant fix it for 20 bucks, then it becomes 50-60 bucks, oh, and don't forget, the price of gas . keeps going up. look at about 300 dollars a year for tires and oil changes and car washes. some years it will be more because of what i mentioned. it you get a fancier new car, look into an extended warranty because one repair bill can make up the cost of warranty, they are so expensive to have fixed.

That depends if you do the work or the shop. Lets say a shop.... you get the oil changed every 3 months so thats 4 times a year at $20
So Oil change $80.... a tuneup twice a year, they go for $50-$100 a shot, so $200 more, then you have to figure you might need to replace some sensores or tires.... maybe an extra $1000 just in case, you might not need to spend it all in a year..... but just figure $280 for tuneups and oil changes..... other maintenance some more.
