i own a repair shop,an the newest kind of automatic shifters doest really require you to have a shifter,,its done with a solenoid,,and a switch,that you use,and it selects the gear for you,,there kind of neat in a way,,and it can be mounted in the steering column also,,this is the good part about them,,i have only seen one ,but im sure we,ll be seeing a lot more of them out there before long..good luck,i hope this help,s.It's a shifter, plain and simple.
