--------------------Electric vehicles are not dead - there are dozens of choices - they can be bought, but suffer from a bad rap because of negative and untruthful information put into our culture by special interests.

Electric cars have many advantages. They are much cheaper to drive and maintain than typical cars, they can be 'fueled' at home, and they don't pollute (even if your powerplant burns dirty fuel, the amount of pollution generated is much less.)

Did you know an electric car can be had for as little as $5000? For this price you get a conversion - a gas car converted to electric. Cars like this look, handle, and accelerate like normal cars, and do freeway speeds, but have limited driving ranges. This is the kind of car I drive. More info here:

Because society has complicated things that should be simple. I don't want to get into this, so I'll talk about the second factor.getting your first vehicle at the age of 20?
There is a greedy profit in gasoline, even though it has a bad effect on the environment. No one wants to lose out on the money. That's the way it works. Society will always be greedy, and nothing will change that.
Cost and Politics.
Like it or not, the oil companies have their hands in the automotive cookie jar, so they have to look out for thier profits. Plus the technology was very expensive for GM to create and maintain. You have to give them credit for trying, but it just didn't workout then.
Recommend a new car for someone with 2 dogs?
But fear not. Lookup the Chevrolet Volt. It's a modern Electric Car/Hybrid Concept from GM that looks rather promising. It can travel daily for 40 miles on electricity alone, and when the engine kicks over to gas, it can average 150 mpg. Don't believe me? Check it out yourself and you'll see.
What's doubleclutching and how's it done?
Because the one they made was a piece of crap. 20 mins of run time and 20 hours of charging. Oh and they get kick backs from the gas companys. Why did we make Hydrogen Cars?
The oil companies may have told them to get rid of it hahawhat do you think is the most dependable car?
Too small a vehicle to carry more than 2 passengers comfortably. Battery design and development not up to the necessary techknowlogy of the era. Battery weight too great to propell the car up steep hills, and driving range on level ground too short to drive at about 70 miles per hour for one hour, maximum. Battery recharging time too long to accomplish with overnight 8-10 hours charge time. The fleet of EV-1 cars with all their up-to-date experimental equipment were leased and not sold to any of the potential owners. An interesting vehicle, never the less.More Questions & Answers ...
