It's been done. All modern cars in the U.S. use vapor and exhaust gas recycling when driven. Appx. 89% of all petroleum product is burned/consumed and the remaining pollutants are 'washed' in the cat. converter -- leaving very few harmful particulates in our air. There are some expermental engines that use up to 98% of petrol and we may be seeing them in the future as well.
