There is rust on the bottom of the door and a piece has already come off. Thinking of just getting a new skin and respry as ford will most likely cost more. Any ideas of cost?

Depends what kind of car it is and how common as to what the best course of action would be. i.e. if its an older car (which it may be due to the rust that you mention) then you would be as well getting a whole door from the scrapyard (maybe even in the colour you require) or have it resprayed. Id expect to pay about 150 quid to get a door painted (that excludes stripping it of interior trim etc, best to do that bit yourself - saves painter time, and you money!). Dont try to repair the rust, it'll only come back through, sooner or later.....how does car Immobilizer works?
A full respray of a door will come in about the £200-300 region, depending on paint type, solid will be cheaper, metallics, micas and pearls will be more expensive. Paint and materials are not cheap nor is labour at a body shop. But if the door is perforated, you will need to see that the door frame hasn't rotted too, another door might be the better option, find one in a breakers yard the same colour, and you can cut out all of this and save a pile of cash too!More Questions & Answers ...
