It would be hard to make an intake in one piece and bolt it on or work on the system. They are built the shape they are to get the air flowing at a constant speed on all cylinders so the fuel and air mix properly. The upper intake is the half that has the butterfly valve to controll how much air enters the motor. It could be built in one unit , but it would be a pain to get to all the bolts.
