ATTENTION MATH EXPERTS!! I got caught "speeding" this weekend I need to win my case!!?

Question:
I drive a 1995 BMW E36 M3 . . . completely stock. The specs for the motor are: 240bhp at 6000rpm and 225lbs-foot of torque at 4250. I went from a dead stop to 600 ft where I was clocked at "60 MPH". I tried to explain to the officer that the place I had just left (and thankfully still have a timestamped receipt to prove where I was coming from) was right up the street and that it was physically impossible for me to be traveling at such a velocity in such a short distance . . . he must have been clocking one of the 3 bikes behind me. No dice. Either way, I need to expIain to the judge that a 12yr old vehicle with a 6cyl motor cannot attain said clocked speeds. I need the math to prove my case. If anyone has a moment and a little know-how, I would seriously appreciate it. If it helps, he also clocked me approximately 650 ft away from said violation.

What is the minimum age to rent a car in Florida?

you didn't say how long it took you to get to where the officer clocked you. was it 10 seconds, 20s? that's needed for the equation.

I need about 3500 gallons of tea tree oil.?

It's just a speeding ticket. It's not like you'll end up in jail or anything. Just take responsibility and pay your fine. The money you spend trying to prove your innocence could exceed the ticketed price!

See the link below. The app is free, but you'll have to pay $7.95 for a very large database of cars. Your specific car may be included in the database, if not, you can probably find one that's similar.

600 feet is nearly 1/8 mile. My guess is that your car could easily hit 60mph in that distance.

Good luck!

Who are the worst drivers?Bus/Taxi/White Van.(I go for white van)?

Just tell the judge you were too high on booze and drugs to notice that you had exceeded the speed limit and your speedometer was broken. I'm sure they'll take those extenuating circumstances under consideration.

What to do with my car, please help me?

This car is capable of 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. According the acceleration factor and not including tire spin, head wind, density altitude, etc., it is possible to achieve 60 MPH in 650 ft.

Should drivers' license be used as a crime fighting tool?

With age comes wisdom it use to be about police getting quota's , now it seems they don't have quota's they can write as many tickets as they want. Try getting your car calibrated by the same ppl who did a close firend of mines car. All it needs is to be 1 or 2 miles off & they'll lower it down to defective equiptment. Or just unplug your speedometer cable & show it wasn't working @ all. Some ppl even pay the guy that does calibrating a lil to lie $25.Next time buy in your town police sticker to put on your car.It will show them you already gave, or policemans ball tickets.A close friend of mine went on e-bay & bought metal & plastic stickers police stars to put on his rear plate so they would most of the time let you go.Face it your gonna pay 1 way or another please let me know how it goes.

Will my hunk o'junk be accepted by a big car dealership as a trade-in?

Published 0-60 time for the car is 5.5 seconds. Published 1/4 mile time is 14.0 @ 98.6 seconds. If you consider you're talking a distance of roughly 1/8 mile, which is half a 1/4 mile, the numbers are possible. Also, if the bikes were behind you, he clocked you. Laser would target your car, and radar would target the largest object . . . you.

V6 or 4 cylinder help?

Granted, you'd have to have really been jumping on the throttle, but it's possible, given variances in actual distance, the gun, etc. I've got the same car (automatic, of all things) and it can be done.

I know this may sound dumb, but how does a parking meter work?

Sorry.

What is it?

Sorry. According to my calculations and this link http://www.bmwworld.com/models/m3_e36.ht... your car were able to reach 60 mph in 5.7s (if new), and that equivalent to around 500 ft.

What are the benefits of my British Columbia's Driving License?

Truth be told, a lot of people just step on it, and don't even look at the speedometer. Pleading a broken speedometer just doesn't cut it. It is one thing to use that excuse if tagged a few miles over out on the open road, it is quite another to use it when booting it out of a parking lot. Undoing the cable, or trying to bribe somebody to note your readings were out are both fraudulent acts, and, again, don't hold water when we are talking about booting it out of a parking lot. It has been pointed out by several people that your car is capable of that acceleration. It also has a top speed of 137 mph. It ain't your Grandma's Pinto!

I am clueless regarding cars. What is a tune-up exactly?

Good idea. Lose a days pay, go into court, present your case as best you can, wait for everyone in the court room to stop laughing, be found guilty, pay your fine, and get on with your life.
