If stockpilling gasoline for emergency use, how long does it stay good?
I've not driven a Smart in snow and ice but it should do well from it's physical characteristics ie- it's light so will have less momentum and therefore will stop and change direction more easily.
- it's front wheel drive so the engine weight over the driven wheels will help grip.
- there is good ground clearance so ridges of ice on the road won't be a problem (the Alfa Romeos will clear those!)
If you have to drive in slippery conditions, remember the usual guidelines:
- always be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear
- make gentle, progressive changes to steering, braking and acceleration
- if the car is stuck then you can let pressure out of the tyres to get moving, which increases grip (but re-inflate before higher speeds /sustained speeds to avoid a blowout)
- on hills park with the driven wheels downhill which transfers weight and therefore helps grip
great fun just like ice skating sitting down

Absolutely terrifying.What excatly is "off-roading"?
Untill you crash and kill yourself, fun as with all cars. It does have narrower tyres so would cut through the snow better than other cars giving you more control but Ice would be dangerous as with all cars.More Questions & Answers ...
