Are some cat back exhaust legal or pass a MOT?

on modern cars yes. you could just put the standard exhaust on for the MOT then swap it, thats what most people do.

As long as it's a cat back system then it will pass the MOT, as it's only the tip's and the back box that is changed.
The only problem is if you go for a de-cat pipe, then it won't pass, alot of people will change back to normal exhaust for mot, then change it back for the better sounding system.
