Question:
We have a small car with a 5 speed transmission. We have been practicing a lot, but she still spins the tires EVERY time. She also does a lot of "bunny-hopping" when starting. Any suggstions?

be patience! What exactly is a SMART car, whats so smart about it??
Only practice will make perfect. Do not get upset while trying to teach either. That just makes the fustrated. You should beable to take off on a flat surface with no gas at all being given to the engine. Get in a parking lot that is flat, and empty also. This will solve the bunny hope and spinning tire issue. Then to take off from an incline that will just take parctice. What's the cheapest tire for the money?
Ok heres how I learned ! You need to find a big open field where there is nobody around and and just let her go at it till she gets it right .How easy is it for a US/Canadian to drive a right hand drive, gear shift in London for a week?
Girls can't Drive Manual Cars. How I can drive a car which has no steering ?
first thing to know does she actually know how to drive a car?? i mean does she have her license or permit. and does she drive an automatic good? the real question is do u know how to drive a manual?whats ur favorate type of car and why?
alot of practice in an empty parking lot, take some cones with you she can practice parking also. show her and explain ,be patient and it might be too much, she might have to learn with an automatic first be for trying the manualthe easiest way to learn is outside the car. Teach her what exactly she is doing by pushing the clutch, reaching for a gear, and letting off the clutch. Once you understand how it works and you can visualize it in your head its very simple to see in your mind the beauty of the clutch, pressure plates, and gear coming together. Nothing is more beautiful
car towed from visitor parking at 7402 Aspen park Rd, Lorton VA 22079, where to call to get my car,?
Its sounds like they got the principal figured out. next maybe practice on taking off without spinning and bunny hopping to sharpen up skills. I would try practicing on a grassy fiield, so if you get where you can take out without spinning you should have it down pat. don't be surprised if the car needs a new clutch in the next year it goes along with the learning process. Good luckTraffic citation for "rolling-stop" at a red light turning right.?
Learning to drive a manual transmission just takes some patience and practice. This is probably over-detailed, but should help your kid learn the basics fairly quickly by trying this method:Do pistons in an engine stop whenever it changes direction?
First, find a flat wide road or parking lot where there's a minimum of traffic, obstacles and distractions, etc. Turn off radio, and roll down a window or two so that you can hear the engine, and possibly be able to smell a burning clutch. Next, start the car in neutral with clutch depressed, let the car idle and begin by not touching the throttle, just hover your right foot over the brake.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to get my car windows tinted?
Select first gear, and with your left foot depressing the clutch pedal, very slowly release the clutch pedal; the car will move forward. As you release the clutch you will notice the engine will pull the car forward, and, if your car has a tachometer, you will see the engine speed begin to drop. At that point depress the clutch pedal back in and repeat this process until you get a feel for exactly the point of travel in the clutch pedal where the engine begins to transfer power to the wheels.
do i need to warm up the car everytime before driving?
As you're learning to do this, you might stall the car a couple of times; just restart and keep practicing, but if you notice a burning smell, stop the car and let the clutch cool down before you try again.
Practice the take-off from a start without adding throttle until you're comfortable, then try take-offs from a stop by now using the throttle in combination with the clutch. You'll find that once the clutch begins to grip and transfer power, that in a see-saw motion you can apply more throttle; As the clutch is being engaged, with left foot moving up, the throttle should be depressed with the right foot moving down in a smooth kind-of rocking motion.
Once you've gotten the take-off mastered, it's just a matter of upshifting as you gain speed; use the same motion as with the take-off, only shift from 1st to 2nd, and so on up through the gears. Keep in mind that you want a smooth transition of power from one gear to the next so that there is no damaging driveline shock OR clutch slip.
How to rent a vehicle without a credit card?
Downshifting is similar, and is where a manual has an advantage over an automatic, because you can use the engine as a brake which saves brake wear. This is a particularly important technique for mountainous driving. To downshift, lift off throttle, disengage clutch, shift into one gear lower, engage clutch, apply throttle.
what is more economical - premium or regular unleaded petrol.?
In downshifting, be aware that you're trying to match the ground speed and engine speed up as the clutch is engaging so that you get a smooth, but quick, transition of power transfered to the wheels as you switch gears. If you have a tachometer in your car this will be easier because you can not only hear and feel what is happening, but see this displayed, too.
What percent of women know how to drive a stick?
Learning the take-off on a hill, you'll need to apply the handbrake to hold the car as you take-off; just hold the handbrake with pin depressed so you can release the brake evenly as you take off. Also, you might try a heel-and-toe technique where you depress both brake pedal and throttle simultaneously by holding both with right foot and use a sort of rocking motion to apply more throttle while releasing brake. This will take some more practice to master without frying your clutch.
why do they park in a drive way and drive on a park way?
When parking, whether your car is facing up or downhill, always put the car in Reverse and set the parking/hand brake, because reverse is usually a lower ratio gear than first. This way, if the brake doesn't hold, the engine will usually hold a car in place.
why is diesel so much more expensive than gasoline in the U.S.?
Finally; The worst thing you can do to an engine is to stress or lug it (the car will "buck" or shutter when this happens), try not to stress it to the point that the engine stops. It is easy to ruin an engine by over-stressing or over-reving, too, but damage by over-reving usually only happens at high RPM near red-line. So when driving, it's better for the engine speed to be a little too high than to be too low.

In Parallel Parking, i need some key tips to doing it.?
First of all do you at least have a wide enough area for training? I wouldn't suggest doing it in traffic.....even though I did...Luckily I didn't get into acccidents. I Drove roughly 30 miles without knowing how to drive a stick. But I'm just good like that :)to answer your question.......she's just gonna have to practice practice practice......I don't think you can actually teach a person to do it. It's a feel for kinda thing. She's gotta get the feel for it.
How much does a new (rebuilt) 351 Cleveland cost and what's a website that sells them?
no wonder why... its a girl some girls know how to drive a manual, but then theres others try slapping her a couple times It'll go through herI strongly suggest getting an automatic for her first drive. :)
if your on the expressway and your new tire is now bouncing by is that a bad thing ?
ok first what ya gotta do is u have to do is teach her to reap her rpm's to when she shifts or **** by the wind of the motor i mean basically alot of time the 2 biggest problems are know where ur gears are and knowing when to hit the clutch and heck i leard how to drive @ 12 years old on a kenworth t600 with a 13 speed talk about hard a 5 speed is prtty ez of perhaps she need what i had a put in traffic with a drive it or hold up traffic thats how i learned to drive lol good lucktell me a good saying or for a tow truck t shirt?
Well, when I take a student out for the first time to teach Manual Shift driving I take them to a large empty parking lotI show them how to shift while sitting still.
Once they master the 1,2,3,4,5 and R, then I begin to teach them the skill of the clutch
First of all I explain that it's simply a matter of a spinning mechanism getting a still wheel moving.
You show them where the friction point is on the clutch. You repeat this several times, starting and stopping................brake first, then clutch all the way in when stopping.
So, once she masters stopping and starting, then you can move on.............When you move forward from a standing position you.....
1. push the clutch in all the way to the floor with her left foot.
2. place her right foot on the brake holding the car still.
3. remind her that when the clutch is "in", the car is actually in Neutral.
4. Now, with a very light touch on the brake pedal to keep the car from rolling, very slowly move her left foot up from the floor until she senses a "shuddering" sensation.......at that point, hold it there releasing the brake, and when the car begins to move forward, slowly come all the way off the clutch.
This will take several attempts to master.
Left foot slowly comes off the clutch to reach the friction point, right foot slowly off the brake, and when the vehicle begins to move forward, the left foot should be completely off the clutch and the right foot can then apply gentle pressure to the accelerator.
When stopping, the right foot should cover the brake first, and when the vehicle is slowing down to approx. 1000 rpm, the clutch should be quickly pressed all the way down, and the brake applied to stop the vehicle
Remember, clutch ALWAYS comes out slowly and goes in quickly......
Good luck
Bunny hopping may be necessary until she masters getting your car moving along in first gear
