Is there a cheap and safe way to get a car delivered 170 miles?

I'm trying to get my car shipped 170 miles. I live in North Carolina. The recent quotes I got were very different. Some were $800, and other $350

I have had an 8 year old Toyota Corolla from new, it still has the original battery after 80,000 miles.?

I want to know if there is a way to get it shipped a lot cheaper, and without the use of trucks. I'm looking for a driver who would deliver it to the given location

$2 a mile isn't bad for a tow truck. You don't mention if the car is driveable. If it is, why not get a friend to drive you to the car and then you drive it back?

You could find a friend to do it, but you would need 2 cars so you could get them back with you. So you would drive your car there, and they would follow behind you. Then you drop off the car, and you ride home with them. This will still cost some money, because you'll need to buy gas for your car, and your friends. (And probably lunch or dinner!)

You could also find a friend with a trailer hitch, and rent a tow dolly from UHaul for $40. Then tow your car there, leave it, and go home to return the dolly. Wouldn't need the friend to come along, but you would still need to buy gas, and find someone with the tow dolly.
