Question:
I locked myself out of my car. I would like to open it myself but I'm having a hard time figuring out which slim jim would work best. Does anyone know where to find that kind of info?

What is the fastest American made Car?
You don't it'll damage the locks. Instead call a Toyota dealer. They can make a key for you by your VIN number. Some roadside assistance places can do the same. It's cheaper and easier to replace the window than the locking mechanism. New cars the door locks are made to resist slim jims.As to purchase one, automotive stores are only place I know that still carry them.
my sister had an early 90s tercel, there was a bar that would block anything going down the window (slim jim) and the locksmith ended up not being able to get it open, we had to break a window.. a couple years later my brother locked the keys in it too, he called home to get the spare ran out to where he was...but it turns out a couple of "ex car thieves" (yeah right) helped him in...he said they used a slim jim type thing...so its possible, but if its as easy as calling up with your vin, i would do that.
why did chevrolet decide to take over daewoo?
Do NOT use a slim Jim on any vehicle newer than about 1956. If you call for a lock out service, and they pull out a slim Jim, tell them to go away. The newer vehicles have electric windows, motors and wires are in the door cavity, along with the wiring for your speakers and door locks. There may also be side air bags. Any fishing with a slim Jim stands the chance of breaking things, especially the plastic clips on the linkage that the newer cars have. Sooner or later your door handle won't work, thanks to the idiot with the slim Jim. Also most of them now have very tight weather stripping and bars that keep the slim Jim's out.Call your road side program, they will send a tow truck with the proper equipment to do it right.
