I have tried to speed shift from first to second gear many times but it just wont give, the only time I get a smooth transition from first to second is if I pause for a few seconds. Could this be causeed by some type of safety mechanism in the transmission?

the gearing is low in them...you need to enusre the RPMs are right b4 you speed shift anything...play the the RPMs...also try to use your clutch when going into nuetral, then pull back on your shifter, and throttle up on the gas pedal..hence puching etc the shifter to the gear you want...good luck...ps...speed shifting is NOT good for your auto!!...u will be fixing it sooner or later!!
